She’s gone
She who gave birth, love, warmth, joy and with whom I had so much fun.
She who made me laugh, made me cry
Who kissed away my childhood hurts
And poured Brandy to assuage the adult ones
She who generously lent her car, trusting me with it and her life
Her foot never pressing that invisible brake
She gave me all she could - and more
Yet at times I was bereft of her
When I needed her
She had a life apart from me, one of her own, not wee wifie, widow, mum, just herself
To whom she was true, therefore it follows as the night the day that she could not be false to anyone.
